Before I really get into this blog, you need to know some background information. In track, the top two runners on every team go to districts with about thirteen other teams. The top four of each district go to a region. The top four in each region go to states. Two weeks ago I went to watch regionals. Our 4*800 relay made it there and got gipped out of a spot at states when a Mentor kid tripped Sean. But every other distance race was awesome. I watched probably the best finish in a mile and two mile that I have ever seen. It was awesome and I was looking forward to states big time. Last Friday, the 4*800 was run before we went to watch, and some teams did awesome. Woodridge, a division 2 team, ran a 7:37 to break even the division 1 state record. They now have the second best time in the whole nation. Then the division 1 results were great too. Nordonia, a team that we compete with and will have to compete against again next year, placed third in the state with a 7:47. I was expecting a lot from the meet as a whole.
But it was disappointing. The only distance race that didn't disappoint was the division 1 mile, with a junior from Lancster running a 4:09. But even that race had a pretty boring finish. There was not a single race all day that was more exciting than the regional mile or two mile. I think the moral of the story is that you shouldn't have high expectations. Not to be pessimistic, but most of the time you will just be disappointed.

Graduation
Yesterday the senior class graduated. I had to be there for NHS. As NHS vice president, i got to boss around all of the other NHS workers. I didn't really boss them around though, more like manage. The other officers and I lead the seniors out to their seats. We also had to help all of the ladies walk down the three steps from the stage to the floor. We did our job well and no one fell down the steps; two or three girls did trip a bit though. I am happy for the seniors for their graduation. I am only 363 days away from the day that our class walks. With the seniors gone, our class has to step up to the leadership role now. Today after school, the other NHS officers and I will be leading the NHS meeting. It is kind of weird having to be the responsible person that I must be now. It is kind of a good feeling though. I will be in control of everybody in NHS, besides Matthew Rees, the president, of course. Besides NHS, my friends and I are going to have to step up to the role of leaders for Cross Country and Track. We pretty much are all ready, but it is going to be official soon.
We have all grown up so quickly. I remember being a kid looking at the second graders and thinking how big they were. Now they are tiny. Life really does fly by. This year is almost over, but it feels like it just started. Life is crazy.

Growth
I am roughly 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. That is pretty big. I am taller that both of my parents, who are taller than their parents, besides one grandpa. It amazes me that I am this big, knowing that I was once so little. I rememberbeing a kid and coming up to my dad's waist when I stood up to him. I would look up to the sixth graders when I was in first grade and see how tall they were and be amazed. Now when I see a sixth grader, even some freshman, it blows my mind to imagine that I was ever that size. Growth amazes me. It will probably be even more amazing to see that kind of growth when I have kids of my own.

Birthdays
Today is my birthday. I am 17. I can now legally watch R rated movies and I can drive as many people as I have seat-belts. Well legally at least. I should probably be pumped for a whole day dedicated to me, but I'm not. Every year when I have a birthday I think of how another year has passed and I still haven't done much. Nothing really notable happened to me last year. I can drive now; that's cool. But there are people my age who do awesome things. A few people y age or younger won medals in this years winter x games. I cannot even compare to them. It is pretty depressing. Birthdays are sort of a slap in the face. They show you how little you have done with your life. That's not cool.
It makes it a bit better that I get presents and cake though.

School
I am pretty content with school right now. Usually by this time in the year, I can't stand it, but not so much this year. But my buddy Scott hates it just as much as I used to. He is a senior, and he can't wait to go to college next year. But he will be going from school to school. He is excited to enter a new form of school, just harder than it is now. School is pretty rough now, but I have got a lot more left. Minimum five and a half years. Most likely more than that. It is going to get so bad.
But I suppose it will get a bit better. You only study what you are interested in in college. That might not be bad.
But then you have to work. Most likely doing the same thing every day for forty years or so. Life kind of sucks. I suppose that I might have to pick a job that I don't hate.

Watson
Watson the computer just beat Ken Jennings on jeopardy. This was probably just a test for him to see if he can take over the world. Soon he will be monitoring the web. He will know everything that is on the Internet. He is most likely reading this right now as I write it. He is just preparing his domination of the world.
Watson is going to take control of all of the government computers. He will be calling people and blackmailing them into doing his orders. It will all lead to an assassination attempt on the president of the united states. And only Louis Stevens will be able to save the world from the power hungry computer.
Or maybe that is the plot of Eagle Eye?
